Taking Small Steps

I have some of the best conversations with my clients when I go off on a tangent.

For those of you who know me.

You will know that this happens on a regular occasion.

Especially when I talk about health and weight loss nutrition.

I just can’t help it.

I was speaking to one of my clients yesterday about breaking down their goals.

And how important it can be to do so.

So many times during weight loss, people set big goals.

Which is great.

We all need a target.

But what I find with a lot of people when they are new to a weight-loss journey.

Is how they overlook the process of it.

Sometimes I find that people only ever have a set number in their head for the overall weight that they want to lose.

They want to lose “three stones”.

And then can never get that number out of their head.

Which I find can be hugely detrimental to their weight loss process.

Now, do not get me wrong, having a goal is great.

We all need to know where we are heading.

But instead of getting fixated on those “three stones”.

Why don’t we just look to concentrate on that first 1lb of weight loss first?

Sometimes smaller goals are more manageable and are more realistic in the short term.

And if you manage to achieve that 1lb of weight loss weekly?

Then in a few months, you are starting to elicit some serious fat loss.

If you are on a weight loss journey, the path can look daunting.

Do not let this put you off.

Moving in small steps is far better than not moving at all.

Consistency is key.

And so is managing your short-term expectations.

With the right help, you will get there.

You may just need to break the process down.

And also stop being hard on yourself for not losing ten pounds a week.
