Is Breakfast The Most Important Meal Of The Day?

Have you ever had somebody tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Here’s my take on it as a certified nutritionist…

Put your hands up if you have ever had somebody tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?

I know that I have.

On many occasions.

Especially when I was a kid.

And even though I am a Certified Nutritionist.

My Dad still likes to tell me this one on a daily basis.

You know, with his expertise being in fishing and playing the ukulele.

I really do appreciate his nutrition “advice” on my eating patterns (Lol).

On a serious note though.

Let’s talk breakfast.

And if it is indeed, the most important meal of the day.

Most people claim that skipping breakfast can cause a crash in your metabolism.

Which in turn, makes it harder to lose weight.

This claim is incorrect.

And in fact, studies on both lean and overweight individuals have shown that skipping breakfast does not inherently slow down your resting metabolic rate.

So, when it comes to breakfast.

You should base your choice on personal preference.

If you enjoy breakfast and feel good having it, brilliant.

But if you do not like to eat in the mornings?

Then skipping it is fine too.

The top and bottom of it are this.

You do not need to eat breakfast to lose weight or to be healthy.

The choice is completely up to you 🙂
