Bread… Is it The “Bad Guy” Of Weight Loss?

I posted a Q&A box on my Instagram story the other day.

And I got a really interesting question back from it.

And before you ask.

No.

It was not the question about who I would prefer to coach in a boxing match between Ronald McDonald and the Colonel.

Even though that question was pretty good.

And probably my favorite of the day!

Anyway.

I digress.

Back to the really interesting question!

The question was…

“Does bread make you gain weight”

This is a question that I hear a lot.

And I do understand why it is asked.

So I just want to put it to bed for anybody who did not see my answer to the question.

Bread will not make you gain weight.

Or make you fat.

Unless you are eating it in a calorie surplus.

The issue here I feel is this.

Bread can be very easy to overeat, and not only that but most people eat bread with high-calorie foods such as butter.

What you can also find here is that a diet that is heavy in bread, can mean that other foods rich in nutrients, like fruits and vegetables, get left out a little bit, which is not ideal for health.

But in summary.

Bread is not the bad guy that it is made out to be.

And it will not make you gain weight… unless you are eating it in a surplus.

Not only that.

But if you enjoy bread, taking it out of your diet may cause a lack of adherence to your weight loss journey.

And you will more than likely be far more compliant with having bread in your diet than you would be restricting it on your weight loss journey 🙂
