Are Egg Yolks Bad For You?

At this moment in time, thank goodness, my old man has still not seen the Mail Online article claiming that half an egg a day increases your risk of death by 7%.

But he will at some point.

And when he does.

I will be getting a panicked phone call to tell me that I have been trying to kill him off over the years with my advice to him about egg consumption.

So instead of explaining to him down the phone.

I am just going to direct him here instead.

It will save me a lot of time.

So, eggs, and in particular, egg yolks… are they bad for you?

In a word.

No.

The press always has, and probably always will give eggs a bad rap.

But the truth is that eggs are a fantastic source of protein, fats, and other useful nutrients.

And their association with high cholesterol has been massively overplayed.

With “association” being the keyword here.

Health is multifaceted.

We have to look at all of the angles of it.

Are we active? Are we consuming whole foods with an abundance of fruits, vegetables, and proteins?

Or are we sedentary? Smoking ten a day, and sinking five pints every night in front of the telly?

You can see where I am going with this.

Worry less about the crazy things like consuming half an egg per day that will apparently kill you (which is rubbish anyway!)

And worry more about improving the health basics of your lifestyle.

That is the place to start.

Not scaremongering, stupid, headlines about eggs like the one written online the other day.

Anyway, if you have any more questions dad, I will be calling you as usual about 5 pm.

I will speak to you then 😉
